Presented paper “Evaluating Data literacy: Examining how urban populations navigate data-driven political information” under the Political Communication Research Section, IAMCR 2024 – hosted in Otautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand by University of Canterbury from 30 June to 04 July 2024. I am thankful to my co-author Dr Nirmala MN for collaboration and support throughout the research.

 

 

 

 

 

Geeta Kashyap was invited as an academic expert at ‘Data Dialogue’ for the Panel discussion on ‘Unlocking Potential of data in storytelling’, December 17, 2022, in Bangalore, organised by Data Leads- partner Google News Initiative, India. She spoke on academic possibilities in data-driven storytelling and classroom pedagogy to teach data journalism courses. She was teaching data journalism course as part of her teaching assignment at Christ University, Bangalore, India. 

 

 

 

 

 

Presenting our paper on ‘Caste and New Media: In search of an inclusive newsroom’ at  A Two-Day International Conference on New Media and its Publics in India, Department of Liberal Arts, SRM University, Andhra Pradesh on April 18-19, 2024. Dr. Nirmala M N and Dr Geeta Kashyap, discussed how new media can be theorised in the Indian context and with connectivity and access becoming the new normal, there is a need for addressing the social inequality concerns in media policy and media ownership by calling for an alternative imaginary of the media. Dr Nirmala is an Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator, Department of Media Studies, CHRIST University, Yeshwanthpur Campus, Bangalore and Dr Geeta is an Assistant Professor, Department of Media Studies, CHRIST University, Bangalore.

Presented our paper “News in Posthuman Era: From Journalism to Journ-AI-lism” at the International Conference on Media and Communication, organised by Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune during September 28-30, 2023. I am thankful to my co-author Mr. Shambhu Sahu for collaborating and support. I am also thankful to Christ University for funding to attend and present my work. 

 

 

 

Received the Best paper award at the International Conference on Media and Communication, organised by Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication in the session ‘Media Spaces, Cultural Narratives and Creative Industries:(Post) Pandemic Reconfigurations’, Pune during September 28-30, 2023. 

A Panel discussion on ‘Leveraging Science and Technology for the upliftment of SDGs’ organised by the Department of Media Studies at Media Meet 2023, Christ University, Bangalore, India. The panel discussed very important aspects of Science and Technology and it can it make changes in the lives of commons. Especially, how science fraternity need to focus on the innovation that can ease the work of women in rural as well as urban dwellings.
